RDÉE Territoires du Nord-Ouest
The Conseil de développement économique des Territoires du Nord-Ouest (CDÉTNO) (NWT Economic Development Council) offers a wide range of services to business people, community organizations, and individuals looking for work. The CDETNO has resources that allow for the development of focused solutions in the following sectors: rural development, knowledge-based economy, tourism, and youth. The CDETNO is a proud member of the national Francophone economic development network, RDÉE Canada.
Recent Results
The CDETNO has already helped many business and community leaders advance their projects. For example, the organization has :
- Supported the Association franco-culturelle de Yellowknife in developing a business plan for a future community centre in Yellowknife;
- Supported many entrepreneurs, such Reliance Airways Ltd, Danmax Communications, and the Bistro Bar Le Frolic, in translating their promotional materials;
- Promoted the NWT to many consumer shows in the province of Québec;
- Contributed to the start-up of new business projects, such as Compu-Clean and Alicia’s Box;
- Helped many entrepreneurs and organizations in developing their web-sites.

The CDETNO offers a wide range of services to entrepreneurs and organisations, as well as to individuals looking for work :
- Networking, representation, and promotion at territorial and national levels;
- Assistance in business and organisation start-up;
- Support in financing research;
- Assistance in developing marketing plans and promotional strategies;
- Information/documentation/competitive intelligence;
- Assistance with the computerization of businesses and Web strategy development;
- Personnel recruitment assistance;
- Assistance in writing and translating resumes.
All entrepreneurs and organizations established in the Northwest Territories have access to CDETNO’s services, as long as they are prepared to develop French-language services. For the CDETNO, bilingual services are a key to business development. Bilingualism in the workplace translates into three aspects: promotional material, client services and working language.
Description of our actions in tourism
The CDÉTNO is presently working on the implementation of an NWT Marketing Strategy for the Québec market. It is doing so in collaboration with various private and governmental stakeholders in the tourism Industry. In the last year, the CDETNO has participated in a series of consumer shows, as well as the Annual General Assembly of the Tourism Industry Association
of Canada and Rendez-Vous Canada. The CDETNO is a member of NWT Tourism.
Description of our actions in Knowledge-Based Economy
The CDETNO is actively involved in technological development in the Territories by helping business owners, community organizations, and individuals looking for work to familiarize themselves with new technologies. It also works with Industry stakeholders to ensure a French-language presence of the NWT on the Internet.
