M. Michel Matifat

In 2008, Michel Matifat joined ScotiaMcLeod in Vancouver as a Wealth Manager. Mr. Matifat has over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. Before working for ScotiaMcLeod, he was Director, UBS Bank (Canada) in Vancouver BC, where he was responsible for the acquisition and management of the accounts of high net worth clients. Prior to joining UBS, Mr. Matifat was a Tax Partner at KPMG LLP, in charge of the Private Client Advisory Services group in Vancouver.
Mr. Matifat began his career with KPMG in Montreal in 1981. Since 1985, he has been providing tax and financial planning advice to executives, professionals, entrepreneurs, entertainers and athletes. In 1993, he was appointed Partner in Charge of the Personal Advisory Services Group for the Province of Quebec. In September 1997, he transferred to Vancouver and in 1999 he was appointed National Leader. Mr. Matifat has written and published a number of articles on tax and financial planning, participated in a television series on investment strategies and personal tax planning, and conducted numerous personal tax and financial planning seminars.
Mr. Matifat is a Chartered Accountant and has completed the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants In-Depth Tax Course as well as the Canadian Securities Course (CSC). Mr. Matifat sits on the Board of Endeavour and has been a board member of the Société de développement économique (BC) for a number of years where he currently acts as President. He is also an associate member of the organization Fondation Dialogue, which is involved with the Vancouver 2010 Olympic games.
